- Nick ReedTelevangelist Rick Warren has announced that he is canceling plans for a "civil forum" between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.

You may recall Rick Warren from last year's campaign. He hosted a forum between John McCain and Barack Obama. He also conducted the prayer at President Obama's inauguration. It made a lot of gay people mad.

Warren says he is cancelling plans for the "civil" event because he feels today's political climate is too uncivil. Hmmmm. That is like not not adding sugar to the cake mix because there isn't enough sugar in it. Warren elaborates by saying “It would be hypocritical to pretend civility for one evening only to have the name-calling return the next day". Not to over-analyze, but that is like saying, "I won't be kind to people because the world is filled with unkind people and it would be hypocritical to act kind when there are so many people who aren't."

I am not sure why Warren is really calling it off. I can't imagine he follows his own logic. Whatever the reason, it doesn't make sense.

Of course, neither Obama or Romney agreed to the forum in the first place. Maybe that has something to do with it.
