Man Accused of Stealing From, Breaking Into Seymour High School

Prosecutors have charged a man whose modus operandi fits the description of more than 60 burglaries in the area over the past two years.

Authorities have charged Curtis Burton with three counts of burglary and one count of armed criminal action. According to a probable cause statement released by police, Burton broke into the Seymour High School at 3 am on November 16th and stole over a thousand dollars in cash. The cash was intended by the school to provide food, clothes, and backpacks for underprivileged children.

Burton fled the state with the money and was eventually arrested in Jacksonville Arkansas. Police say they found potential burglary equipment in his girlfriend’s car.

Burton has a record of burglaries going back to 2002. County Prosecutors have asked that his bail be set at 200,000 dollars.
