Incoming Republican State Lawmaker Wants To Focus On Rural Broadband, Agriculture Technology

Incoming northern Missouri State Representative Louis Riggs will replace term-limited Lindell Shumake when the legislative session begins on Wednesday.

Riggs thinks high-speed internet access is the number one issue in rural regions of the state and thinks lawmakers need to focus on improving technology in agriculture to attract younger people into farming.

A report from Missourinet says Riggs also says it’s important to preserve state funding for lettered county roads through the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Like Shumake, Riggs is a Hannibal Republican.  Shumake lost a primary contest for a northeast Missouri Senate seat won by Cindy O’Laughlin.
