US Marshals Service Warns Folks Of Phone Scam

The US Marshals Service is warning folks about a phone scam that has been going around Springfield.

Scammers are falsely using the likeness of US Marshals and falsely claiming they have warrants for people’s arrests.

If you get a call and the person on the other end say they are a “Deputy US Marshal” or “US Marshals Service Employee”, hang up. They are not law enforcement.

The scammers are looking to solicit personal or identifying information from victims, or threaten victims with fines or arrest.

If you get a call like this, you’re urged to end the call, and to file a complaint online with the FBI-Internet Crime Complaint Center.
