State health officials are reporting the first three flu-related deaths this season.
The Department of Health and Senior Services says the total number of influenza cases has passed the 1,500 mark.
Health officials say the best way to prevent the spread of the flu is to get vaccinated every year.
You should also avoid close contact with sick people, wash your hands often with soap and water, and cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze.
DHSS also suggests you avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces, and stay home when you’re sick, limiting contact with others.
