A teacher in Marionville who was accused of child abuse had her charges dropped Monday.
Kimberly Daniels was charged in September with abuse of a child and hindering prosecution of a felony.
Those charges were dropped after a preliminary hearing on in Lawrence County.
The Springfield News-Leader reports Daniels was on paid administrative leave in June after she took a 4-year-old boy by his arm and removed him from kickball game.
Prosecutors in the case say Daniels’ behavior was abusive and the boy was injured as a result.
Reports say several teachers who witnessed the incident didn’t report any wrongdoing.
The News-Leader says a children’s division employee thoroughly investigated the case and found the allegations of abuse were “unsubstantiated”.
Daniels faced up to 7 years in prison.
Lawrence County prosecutors could later choose to refile charges against Daniels in this case.
