UPDATE: Known Car Thief Arrested After Crashing In North Springfield

UPDATE: Springfield Police have arrested a car thief who got away after a traffic stop Wednesday night.

Police say the man is being held in the Greene County Jail on a parole violation.

No charges have been filed.

A police spokeswoman says officers were called to a possible burglary in the 2900 block of West Lynn.

He was inside the home and was arrested.

Police are looking for a known car thief who bailed from a traffic stop and crashed near Eagle and Nichols in Springfield Wednesday night.

Officers set up a four block perimeter west of Kansas Expressway by 8:00 p.m.

They searched through vacant homes, but couldn’t find the man or his passenger.

Police did find a gun in the driveway of a home near the abandoned car.

There are no reports of injuries.
