The Springfield Cardinals have filed a lawsuit against the John Q. Hammons Trust over a lack of renovations for Hammons Field and raised parking prices.
Court documents say the improvements that were requested in 2018 and 2019 carried a price tag near 8.3 million, but none have been completed.
The Springfield News-Leader is reporting most of the requests involved changes such as dugout renovations, light and sound changes, Wi-Fi for the ballpark, a 360-degree walkway around the stadium, a bar near the outfield area and even an interactive water feature.
The lawsuit also mentions a recent parking spike when the prices of the lot near Hammons Field rose to $20 from $7.
The ballpark lease agreement ends in 2025.
