Greene County Reports 20 Confirmed Cases Of COVID-19

There have been 20 more cases of COVID-19 reported in Greene County.

Springfield-Greene County Health Director Clay Goddard says it’s been a long time since this many new cases have been reported.

He says the last time it happened was in early March.

None of the new cases are from the Great Clips salon exposure.

Goddard says six people at Wilson’s Creek Nursing and Rehab tested positive, including two staff members and four patients.

Six members of a traveling construction crew also tested positive.

Six people tested positive because of a mix of close contact with others or travel.

And two others tested positive because of community spread.

Goddard says the community spread cases are the most concerning because health officials don’t know where those patients got sick.

There have also been five more potential exposures in Springfield:

Walmart Supercenter on West Sunshine on Thursday May 21 sometime in the afternoon

Petsway on West Kearney on Thursday May 21 around 6 p.m.

Price Cutter on West Kearney on Thursday May 21 around 5 p.m.

Walmart Neighborhood Market on West Mt. Vernon on Friday May 22 around 4 p.m.

Walmart Supercenter on South Campbell on Sunday May 24 around 3 p.m.

Health officials say those exposures are considered low risk.
