After protesting on Saturday, holding signs and at times blocking traffic, protesters rallied again on Sunday at the intersection of Battlefield and Glenstone in Springfield to bring attention to the death of George Floyd, a black man from Minneapolis who died after a white policeman kneeled on his neck for over eight minutes.
In video of the incident Floyd could be heard telling the officer he could not breathe. Protesters held signs saying “I can’t breathe,” remembering those words. Others held signs listing the names of black men who have been killed by policemen.
Springfield police have blocked off traffic on streets around the intersection for the second straight day.
