Greene County Clerk Advises Caution With Unsolicited Voter Registration Materials

Greene County Clerk Shane Schoeller is cautioning voters about unsolicited voter registration applications.

The Greene County Clerk’s Office says a non-profit firm based in D. C. has been sending voter registration packets with potentially incorrect information.

“No doubt many of these non-profit organizations have the best of intentions, but unfortunately they do not verify the accuracy of the information they convey through these packets to the voters on their mailing list, nor do we provide voter information unless it is requested properly under the Missouri public records law.” Schoeller said. “I strongly encourage those wishing to register that are eligible to vote to fill out the applications with the help of our deputy registrars at locations throughout Greene County. Our trained deputy registrars can help ensure that eligible Missouri voters are registered efficiently and accurately.”

Schoeller encourages voters to register with deputy registrars, who receive training so they can be kept updated on current election and voter registration laws. They can be found at Springfield-Greene County Libraries, DMV offices, City halls, the Clerk’s Office and most public schools.
