Springfied-Greene County Health Leaders Report 50th Death From COVID-19

There have now been 50 deaths from COVID-19 in Greene County.

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department says the latest victim was a woman in her 60’s who had underlying health problems and was in long-term care.

The death is the 20th reported in the county this month from the coronavirus.

Health leaders say they continue to work closely alongside the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and with local long-term care facilities to help with testing, secure Personal Protective Equipment, and to provide guidance on best practices for disease prevention and containment.

Long-term care facilities are required to report a positive case among staff or residents to DHSS within 24 hours so guidance can be provided on comprehensive testing, isolation and quarantine instructions.

Older adults and folks with conditions that affect their heart, lungs, kidneys or immune system are at higher risk for severe health outcomes from COVID-19.
