Police in Nixa have released the name of a pedestrian hit and killed by a pickup truck while crossing Mt. Vernon Street (Highway 14) east of Main Street Wednesday evening.
Officers say Mason Anderson, 57, Springfield, died at a local hospital after being hit by the truck, which was traveling westbound as he was crossing Highway 14.
City Spokesman Drew Douglas says officers are not recommending any charges to prosecutors for the driver of the truck, and there’s no reason to believe the driver was intoxicated or violated any traffic laws.
Police did perform a field sobriety test on the driver and did a blood draw, as required by law.
Both the east and westbound lanes of Highway 14 were shut down while police investigated the crash, which occurred at 7:43 p.m.
