More Than 130 Deaths Added To Missouri’s COVID-19 Count, But None Are Recent

The state’s death toll from COVID-19 is taking a dramatic jump Friday, but none of the fatalities are from this month.

State health officials say 136 people who died between July and September are just now being added to the state totals because Missouri relies on reporting from local health departments, and some of them report deaths in batches.

Of those newly-released deaths, 125 happened in September, ten in August and one in July.

In addition, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is reporting 2,008 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday, and citing data showing hospitalizations are remaining at near-record numbers.
