Programming Alert:

We will be live on the Fourth of July, and will play a ‘best of’ show on the fifth.

Holiday Travel:

US Transport Secretary Pete Buttigieg blamed thousands of flight delays and cancellations over the Fourth of July holiday weekend on the weather.

Nick shares a story from the editor of Reason, Matt Welch. Matt was traveling from California to New York City when his flight was cancelled. The news reported that it was due to thunderstorms. Matt called JetBlue and was informed there would be no available flights from Southern California to the East Coast for the next five days. Seems a bit extreme for a brief weather event, Matt told the customer rep.

“It’s not the weather,” they said. “It’s the FAA.”

2024:

A new survey shows that former President Donald Trump is leading among independent voters in a potential head-to-head matchup against President Biden.

Pride Month:

A popular TikTok influencer reacted to videos of nudity that have surfaced from Pride events, blasting them as inappropriate and unrepresentative of the LGBTQ community.

Democrats:

Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki claimed Republicans are recruiting Muslims against transgender people.

Michigan House Democrats passed legislation that would make intimidating someone by intentionally using their unpreferred gender pronouns a felony, punishable by a fine of up to $10,000 or imprisonment for no more than five years.

Supreme Court:

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor falsely claimed in a new opinion for a major same-sex wedding case that the 2016 mass shooting at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, was motivated by anti-gay prejudice.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said Sunday during an appearance on CNN that Lorie Smith, the Colorado graphic designer who sued the state over its anti-discrimination law, only got into the business “for the purpose of provoking a case like this.”
