(KTTS News) — A man has been found guilty of second-degree murder after a woman was found dead at a home in Springfield.

Jerome Poole, 59, from Springfield called 911 and told authorities that a woman was dead.

Springfield Police found the body of 41-year-old Crystal Dye from Springfield on a bed at the home in the 200-block of South Clifton.

An autopsy shows she was strangled.

There were cuts and bruises on her body and clumps of hair in her hand and on the floor of the bedroom.

The medical examiner says Dye had internal injuries consistent with an assault.

Poole later told police that he had known Dye for less than a year.

He says she arrived at his home to spend the night with him.
