Winter weather will make its debut for many in the Ozarks on Sunday as the National Weather Service predicts snowfall throughout most of the day.
The temperatures will remain too warm to keep that snow pristine, with highs in the mid 30s. National Weather Service Meteorologist Drew Albert says much of the snow will turn to slush.
“It’s going to probably a wet slushy snow,” says Albert, speaking with KTTS News. “This probably won’t be a huge impact on roads, but their could be some slushy spots, especially on bridges and overpasses.”
The snowfall is expected to begin in the early to mid morning, and taper off in the evening hours. The average accumulation will likely be around 1 to 2 inches.
The National Weather Service has a winter weather advisory posted for Newton, Lawrence, McDonald, Barry, Stone, and Taney Counties starting from 6 a.m. and lasting through 9 p.m.
