The first-ever party in the park will combine live classical music, local arts & crafts, and food trucks.
Next Saturday, June 22, from 4 to 9 p.m., Lake-area residents and visitors will have the unique opportunity to catch world-class music and exciting local arts, together on the lawn of Chad A. Fuqua Memorial Park in Hollister. Taneycomo Arts Picnic is the first event of its kind brought to the community by Southern Missouri Arts Connection (SMAC) and The Taneycomo Festival Orchestra (TFO). SMAC’s art fair will host a range of Missouri crafters and local artists on the lawn of the park – while TFO’s wind ensemble, Taneycomo Harmoniemusik takes the stage, performing music composed by Dvorak and Mozart. Taneycomo Arts Picnic is a free, family-friendly event. Food vendors will be onsite, and eateries on Downing Street in Historic Downtown Hollister are in easy walking distance. Attendees are invited to bring a picnic and enjoy the festivities. “In partnering to create this unique cultural experience, SMAC and TFO hope it will become an annual event audience will anticipate each year during TFO’s performance weeks in June,” says SMAC Board President Tenille Blair-Neff. Sponsors for the event include Bank of Missouri and Anne Symington of Foggy River Realty.
About SMAC: As a local center of creativity, art education, innovation, and community partnership, Southern Missouri Arts Connection is committed to improving quality of life in southern Missouri, and connecting individuals with the arts for the benefit of all. SMAC’s collaboration with local artists, businesses, and government resulted in over 47 enrichment activities in 2018, including low-fee art classes, workshops, and art events. Many more exciting art opportunities are being planned for 2019.
About TFO: The Taneycomo Festival Orchestra provides free classical music concerts and educational programs that serve the central Ozarks. We believe that anyone can enjoy classical music performances when programs are presented in casual, educational, and accessible atmospheres. During the Taneycomo Arts Picnic, we will present our wind ensemble, Taneycomo Harmoniemusik. This group stems from the age-old Viennese Harmoniemusik tradition of using groups of wind instrumentalists to perform for fun, outdoor
