Man Who Fired Shots At Springfield Police And Greene County Deputies On The Run

UPDATE: The Greene County Sheriff's Department has identified a man wanted in connection to a Monday morning pursuit where shots were fired.

Deputies say they're still searching for Enrique Castaneda.

Castaneda has been charged with a long list of felonies, including discharge of a firearm, armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm and 1st Degree tampering with a motor vehicle.

Authorities are searching for a man who fired shots at both Greene County deputies and Springfield Police officers this morning.

Officers had been blocking some streets around Kansas Expressway and Division, but we're told that perimeter has been released.

The sheriff's office has released the information below on its Facebook page:

Around 4:20 am this morning, Cpl Ramsey attempted to stop a vehicle on West Bypass and Grand when the vehicle failed to yield. During a short pursuit the driver opened the door and fired shots at Cpl Ramsey. Cpl Ramsey created some distance from the vehicle since he was being shot at.

Cpl Ramsey lost sight of the vehicle and Springfield, MO Police Department located it, initiating a pursuit with it in the area of Chestnut and Scenic. The driver ended up getting the vehicle stuck on the train tracks under Kansas Expressway (the rail yard). As Springfield Police approached the vehicle, the driver exited and fired several shots at them. No deputies or officers were shot or injured this morning.

Everyone is assisting in locating the driver at this time. We will continue to keep everyone updated when we get more information.
