The Missouri State Lady Bears have jumped out to a 38-33 halftime lead over Oral Roberts at JQH Arena in Springfield.
The Golden Eagles scored the first six points of the contest and held a 14-6 lead with 6:16 left in the first quarter, but the Lady Bears used a 15-2 run to grab a 21-17 lead after the opening ten minutes as Liza Fruendt, Elle Ruffridge, and Lee Ann Polowy drained three pointers.
ORU grabbed the lead briefly at the 7:46 mark of the second quarter on Jordan Gilbert's three pointer, but MSU's Emily Gartner hit a shot underneath with 6:59 left in the half to give the Lady Bears a 25-24 lead.
Fruendt hit a shot, was fouled, and sank a free throw with 41 seconds left in the half to push Missouri State's advantage to five points.
Fruendt leads MSU in scoring with 18 points.
The Lady Bears come into this afternoon's action 2-6 overall, while the Golden Eagles are 6-3 on the season.
