Teenager Dies After Weekend Crash In Springfield
An 18-year-old from Springfield has died from her injuries after a crash on Bennett this past Saturday.
The Springfield Police Department says Breanna Thomas died at a hospital on Friday.
Officers were called to a crash at before 2 p.m. on Jan. 6 in the 2500 block of W. Bennett.
Police say a black 2006 Nissan Altima driven by Austin Larue, 22, of Republic, was westbound at a high rate of speed.
After going over the railroad tracks, he lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road, hitting a concrete pillar.
Thomas was riding in the car and was seriously injured.
She was transported to a local hospital and has now died 6 days later.
Larue was also injured and was transported to the hospital, but the injuries were not life-threatening.
Police say impairment may have been a factor as well as other circumstances that are currently under investigation.
