For the second straight morning, a pursuit that started outside of Springfield has gone into the city.

Authorities say Greene County deputies tried to stop a black Chevy Silverado pickup on I-44, but the vehicle sped off going eastbound on the interstate at speeds of up to 110 miles per hour.

Spike strips were set up and both driver’s side tires hit them. The driver spun out as he took the Chestnut Expressway exit, but kept going.

The vehicle went east on Chestnut all the way to Glenstone, with speeds as high as 70 miles per hour.

One of the suspects was seen throwing white baggies out of the passenger side window.

Spike strips finally stopped the pickup at Evergreen and Fremont, and both people inside the vehicle started running.

The driver was arrested a short time later, but authorities are still looking for the passenger, who may be armed.

On October 31, 2019, Springfield Detectives requested our assistance in stopping a vehicle involved in a drug investigation.

Deputies attempted to make a traffic stop but the driver fled in the vehicle. A pursuit was initiated and Starchase was deployed.

Deputies managed to stop-stick the two driver’s side tires, which slowed the pursuit down, but it continued east on I-44 to Chestnut.

During the pursuit, the occupants of the truck threw a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine out the window, which was recovered.

The suspect drove into the opposite lanes of traffic and at this point the pursuit was terminated and tracked via the Starchase device.
