Missouri State Bears Win Big Over Drake 97-62 At JQH Arena

The Missouri State Bears knock down a season high 14 three pointers on the way to a 97-62 win over the Drake Bulldogs Wednesday night at JQH Arena.

The win moves Missouri State (12-14, 6-7) into a tie with the Bulldogs for sixth place in the Missouri Valley Conference standings with five games to play.

MSU never trailed, getting a three pointer from Josh Hall just 19 seconds into the contest to take a 3-0 lead.

The Bears jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead, only to see Drake get within four, 13-9, when Jonah Jackson hit a trey with 16:13 left in the half.

But Missouri State answered with another three from Hall and Keandre Cook  to go up by double digits, 19-9, with 14:28 remaining in the half.

The Bulldogs got as close as two, 24-22 on a trey by Garrett Sturtz at the 9:08 mark.

They would get no closer as the Bears went on a 17-2 run and went into the locker room at halftime leading 52-30.

MSU had already tied a season high in three pointers with 11 by the time the intermission rolled around.

Cook, who nailed five shots from beyond the arc, scored 19 points to lead five Bears in double figures.

Prim and Lamont West scored 15 each, Hall added 14, and freshman Isiaih Mosley put in 12 points.

The Bears went 13 of 18 from the foul line, and committed only eight turnovers, forcing the Bulldogs to turn over the ball 18 times.

Noah Thomas led Drake (16-10, 6-7) with 14 points, followed by D. J. Wilkins with 13.

Bears Coach Dana Ford talked about his team’s effort during his postgame media conference.
