A new advanced method of testing has made its way to Greene County.
The test goes with the “Panther Fusion System” and there’s close to only 1,000 of them.
The new method increases the speed and volume of COVID-19 detection.
Springfield-Greene County Health Director told KY3 News, “I view it really as a game changer for our ability to do disease investigation.”
Each Panther Fusion can run about 1,100 tests in a 24-hour period and there is a three-hour turn around for that data to come back, versus days to get those results with previous testing.
The new tests can detect the coronavirus in people who have come in contact with COVID-19 patients but haven’t shown any symptoms.
