A police officer from Kansas City who was critically wounded after being shot in the head back in July has returned home.
The department announced on Thursday that the officer, who has not been named per family request, was released from an out-of-state brain injury rehabilitation center. He will continue with rehabilitation at a facility in Kansas City.
KCPD says the officer is not paralyzed and continues to grow stronger each day.
The officer was shot while responding to a call on July 2 that a man was brandishing a firearm. After officers arrived on the scene, the suspect began shooting. The suspect was shot and killed.
The department says the family appreciates the prayers and growing support from the community.
