Press Release

Greene County Clerk Shane Schoeller reminds all eligible Greene County residents that they have until 5:00 pm on Wednesday, July 12 to register to vote with eligibility for the Special Municipal Election on Tuesday, August 8.

The August ballot will list one issue for the City of Springfield; therefore, only registered voters within the City will be eligible to cast a ballot in this election.

Residents may register to vote in one of the following ways:

  1. Visit the Office of the County Clerk in the Historic Courthouse at 940 N Boonville Ave, Room 113 in Springfield during business hours of Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm;
  2. Visit any Missouri Department of Revenue vehicle license office or any branch of the Springfield-Greene County Library;
  3. Visit the website for the Missouri Secretary of State.
  4. Mail-in (postcard) registrations will also be accepted if postmarked by Wednesday, July 12.

Voter registration information is also available online.

A person applying to register with an election authority or a deputy registration official shall identify himself or
herself by presenting a copy of a birth certificate, a Native American tribal document, other proof of United
States citizenship, a valid Missouri driver’s license, or other form of personal identification at the time of
registration.

Under state and federal laws, registered voters are not disqualified for moving within a county, but Schoeller
urges anyone who has moved or has changed his or her name to contact the Office of the County Clerk as soon
as possible to avoid unnecessary delays and help ensure a better voting experience on the day of the election.

These changes must be completed in writing.
