(KTTS News) — Springfield Police have released the name of the victim of the man who died after a shooting on September 1.

It comes after a fight between two men in the 1600 block of West Berkeley.

One man, who survived, was found with gunshot wounds at the scene.

Police found Cole M. Marcinek, 24, from Springfield, with multiple gunshot wounds at Grant and Sunset.

He died at the scene.

Police are still investigating.

One man is dead, another is in the hospital after a shootout early this morning in Springfield.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of West Berkeley.

Police were called to the scene because two men were fighting.

Officers found one man had been shot when they arrived.

He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Police then got a second call about a man with several gunshot wounds at Grant and Sunset.

He died at the scene.

On Sept. 1, 2023, at 12:42 a.m., the Springfield Police Department responded to 1632 W. Berkeley for a report that someone had been shot.

Officers arrived and found a man with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A separate 911 caller stated an involved party left the scene of the shooting driving a white SUV, which was in the roadway near the intersection of Sunset St. and Grant Ave. Officers responded to that location and found the driver, Cole M. Marcinek, 24, from Springfield, with multiple gunshot wounds.  Marcinek died at the scene. Marcinek’s family has been notified.

The Springfield Police Department Homicide Unit is investigating the incident and have identified all involved parties. No arrests have been made at this time.
