Beginning Monday, December 1st, Missourians will finally be able to place legal sports bets for the first time.
Christopher Boan, a betting industry analyst with BetMissouri.com, says the launch marks a major moment for the state. He believes Missouri has the potential to rank among the nation’s leading sports wagering markets in total dollars bet.
“We’ve projected Missouri’s first-year betting handle to land around four billion dollars,” Boan explained. “No other state is rolling out a full mobile sports betting program this year the way Missouri is.”
He adds that Missouri’s rich sports landscape gives it a strong advantage right out of the gate. With an NFL franchise in Kansas City, an NHL team in St. Louis, and two Major League Baseball clubs, Boan says fan engagement is high, and that enthusiasm often translates into betting activity.
