Many health and fitness centers are shutting down in the Ozarks due to the latest restrictions on public gatherings of ten or more people.
Planet Fitness shut down in Springfield at 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, and the Ozarks Regional YMCA says it also shut down its facilities following the close of business Tuesday.
Some gyms are streaming fitness classes.
Planet Fitness says it’s hosting “Home Work-Ins” to be live-streamed daily Monday through Friday at 6:00 p.m. CDT.
The Springfield-Greene County Park Board says Chesterfield, Dan Kinney and Doling Family Centers are closed through April 1st and the Northview Center is closed through May 11th.
Sports leagues are suspended through May 12th, including youth and adult softball, baseball, volleyball, flag football and tennis.
What’s open? The park board says outdoor parks and trails remain open and are following normal hours.
Bill and Payne Stewart Golf Course, Horton Smith Golf Course and Rivercut Golf Course remain open with regular hours.
Parks visitors are advised to not gather in groups larger than ten.
