Springfield Officers Now Equipped with Narcan

Springfield Police have announced that every officer is now carrying Narcan, or naloxone.

The medication quickly reverses opioid overdoses. Officers will carry it in nasal spray form and have received training from CoxHealth and Military medics. Refresher courses are given every two years.

The move is an effort to increase the likelihood of saving someone’s life if Police respond to a opioid overdose before a medic arrives.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office and other local police departments already carry the life-saving drug.
