Illinois’ Democratic state Senate majority leader was the victim of carjacking Tuesday night in a Chicago suburb.

Earlier this year, Illinois prosecutors rejected charging five suspects in a deadly gang-related shootout that unfolded in Chicago, despite police reportedly seeking to charge all five suspects with murder and aggravated battery.

The Biden Administration:
The Biden administration is taking new actions in an attempt to facilitate humanitarian aid to people in Afghanistan, with the Department of Treasury allowing some financial transactions with the Taliban.
COVID-19:
House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn tested positive for COVID-19. Clyburn is fully vaccinated and had a booster shot in September.
Clyburn wrote on Twitter, “America is in a new phase of this pandemic. No one is immune to this virus. I urge anyone who has not done so to get their vaccines and boosters. It is the best protection against severe disease and possible death.”
