(KTTS News) — One man is dead after a crash Friday night at Battlefield and Kimbrough in Springfield.

Police say 23-year-old Benjamin Turner from Springfield was riding his motorcycle when a pickup pulled out of a Kum & Go store onto Battlefield.

Turner swerved to avoid the truck, hit a concrete median, and then an SUV.

He died at the hospital.

On May 5, 2023, at 9:02 p.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle crash at Battlefield and Kimbrough.

Benjamin Turner, 23, from Springfield was driving a black 1998 Triumph Sprint motorcycle westbound on Battlefield from National when a white Toyota Tundra pulled eastbound onto Battlefield from a Kum & Go.

The motorcycle swerved to the left to avoid hitting the Tundra and hit the concrete median.

Turner and his motorcycle then hit an eastbound blue Toyota 4Runner driven by Kiteria Smith, 28, from Kissee Mills.

Turner was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Turner was wearing a motorcycle helmet during the crash.

Turner’s family has been notified.

Anyone with any information about the crash is encouraged to contact the Springfield Police Department.

The circumstances of this crash are under investigation.

This is Springfield’s 14th fatal motor vehicle crash in 2023.
