(KTTS News) — Zookeepers at Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield euthanized a giraffe this morning.
Gidget, the matriarch of the herd, had severe arthritis and was having trouble moving.
She was euthanized just a few weeks shy of her 31st birthday.
Gidget was born at San Diego Zoo Safari Park in 1992 and came to Springfield in 1993.
