Trump To Meet Abbas, Syrian President in Saudi Arabia During Regional Diplomatic Push

By The Media Line Staff

US President Donald Trump is expected to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa during his upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia, according to several Palestinian media reports. The meeting, to be hosted by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, comes as President Trump seeks to promote a ceasefire in Gaza, attract Gulf investment, and address growing tensions with Iran over its nuclear program.

The US president’s Middle East trip includes stops in key regional capitals and is viewed as a bid to shore up US influence following months of conflict and shifting alliances. The reported meeting would mark a rare joint appearance by the Palestinian and Syrian leaders, neither of whom are close allies of Saudi Arabia, and would signal potential efforts toward broader regional coordination.

The president will be accompanied by several top officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and Special Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff.

While President Trump prepares for high-level meetings, Iran issued a warning through its Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, speaking from Doha. He said that any effort by Washington to strip Iran of its “nuclear rights” would be met with firm resistance. “Peaceful uranium enrichment is nonnegotiable,” he said.

The president’s visit comes at a time of intense international focus on ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas, as well as concerns about Iran’s regional activities and its nuclear ambitions.
