The Missouri Supreme Court is considering a challenge to the state’s second injury fund which no longer covers those with permanent partial disabilities.
Attorney Marshall Edelman tells Missourinet that the fund, which is financed by a surcharge on businesses, is meant to encourage those companies to hire disabled people.
He says the cut to coverage for the partially disabled is a disservice to them and the businesses.
The state says the 2014 change eliminating coverage for partial disabilities was necessary was insolvent at the time
