Springfield School Board Meeting:

Springfield Public Schools educator and parent Brooke Henderson spoke at the SPS board meeting earlier this week. During the meeting, there was “technical” issues and the live stream wasn’t working. Someone has now posted a video of Brooke speaking at the meeting. You can find her speech below.

During her speech, her mic was cut and she was escorted out. Brooke joined us in the 7 a.m. hour of the show.

Nixa School District:

Jennifer attended a Nixa school board meeting in April. During the meeting, they held a presentation about teaching “culturally responsive education” curriculum. The training will be held over the summer…

Jennifer raised concern about the training… So many parents and residents raised concern that the school district has put out a public statement. The district is now back peddling.

If you want to reach out to Jennifer, you can email her at: showmeschoolchoice@gmail.com

Willard PD Contest:

Willard PD has entered a contest called Hometown Proud.

Kubota’s Hometown Proud Grant Program winner will receive a $100,000 grant to help fund their local revitalization effort! If Willard wins the grant, it will go to the Camp Character program.

The grant funding, if awarded, would be used for materials and for hiring workers to clear brush/vegetation management, add a hiking trail, improve the road, add running water for handwashing stations and onsite bathroom facilities, and to increase overall access, functionality and enjoyment at the site.

Child Endangerment:

A single Georgia mother of five was relieved to finally get back to work last May in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, so she left her kids at home with her 14-year-old daughter to look after them because schools and daycare were closed.

But a few days after going back to work, Melissa Henderson returned home to a Union County Sheriff’s deputy at her house. Her 4-year-old son briefly got out of his older sister’s sight and wandered over to the neighbor’s house to play with his friend. Police charged her with reckless conduct.

Nick makes the point: what about mothers who are leaving their children in the hands of smugglers in Mexico?
