(KTTS News) — A man wanted in the shootings of two police officers in Hermann, Missouri is now in custody.

A Blue Alert was issued Sunday night around 9:15 p.m. after two police officers were shot at a convenience store in Hermann, west of St. Louis.

The officers tried to arrest Kenneth Lee Simpson, 35, for multiple warrants out of Franklin and Warren counties.

That’s when Simpson opened fire.

Police say 34-year-old Hermann Police Detective Sergeant Mason Griffith died from his injuries.

A second officer, 31-year-old Adam Sullentrup, is in serious but stable condition.

Police surrounded a home across the street, trying to get Simpson to come outside.

He walked out of the house before 2 p.m. Monday and was arrested.

Simpson has a long history of criminal charges involving drugs, weapons offenses, assault and property damage.
